Craniosacral therapy (CST) was invented in the 1970s
by John Upledger, an osteopathic physician, as an offshoot of cranial osteopathy,
which had been devised in the 1930s by William Garner Sutherland
CTS is soft and gentle hand-on technique to release restriction surrounding cranium bones
and to restore normal physiological rhythm of craniosacral system
comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Skull bones present in many connected pieces with unique sutures.
Normal amplitude and symmetry of craniosacral system indicate functional production and reabsorbing of cerebrospinal fluid.
Thereby, craniosacral rhythm can be detected by well trained medical profession
who learn to assist craniosacral system to its self correction.
The restriction of the soft tissue around central nervous system can create neural tension
and lead to pain locally and remotely throughout the body.
CST has been wildly used as non-invasive treatment
and prevention program for many medical problems causing pain and dysfunction
such as
fibromyalgia , concussion, dementia, musculoskeletal pain, lower urinary tract symptoms.
